Work begins

Contractors are now on site preparing the north-west section of Old College for construction work in November.

These preparations include the building of a compound on West College Street, resulting in the partial closure of this alley.

Pedestrian access is unaffected and you can still walk through the street and use the entrance to Old College and the Talbot Rice Gallery as usual.

The compound will be well contained within West College Street and will not encroach on Chambers Street. Vehicles delivering goods to the National Museum of Scotland will still have access.

Some noise can be heard in Old College as the contractors carry out the enabling works. Some of the works they will be doing over the coming weeks include:

• erecting partitions
• disconnecting radiators
• removing doors and furnishings
• electrical isolation works to all floors.

Edinburgh Law School will continue to operate as usual.
